ART MENNA for President 2028
(& U.S. Senator for Virginia 2026)
You have the power!

Art Menna

FIERCELY INDEPENDENT

  • Are you fed up with partisan politics?  Have you had your fill of America's fascination with Authoritarianism?
  • Do you believe Democrats and Republicans only want to fight over political power and no longer serve the best interests of the American people?
  • Are you desperate to find a politician who is coherent, trustworthy, viable, and NONPARTISAN?
  • Are you looking for that independent person of integrity, competence (especially in the proper handling of national security intelligence), fortitude, and vision who can reunite our country to face and fix the mess and literal carnage created by these polarizing political leaders?
  • Are you also frustrated that there no longer seems to exist any reliable source of factual news?

If so, you came to the right website because I am, too!

My name is Art Menna and that's why I am running for

office as an Independent candidate.

Okay, I do realize I have many challenges with my campaign because:

  1. Nobody knows me (probably because I haven't been indicted for anything);

  2. I have no money to run a campaign and don't plan to raise any, as I don't want any accusations of some special interest or billionaire benefactor owning me;

  3. If by some miracle I do attract some measurable public interest, I will have to fight the smear engines of both parties;

  4. Many may not be too happy that I will challenge them to exercise some self discipline and make sacrifices to get us on the road to both financial and societal recovery;

  5. I'm not good looking enough (although I am quite tall);

  6. I have no staff to gather signatures to get me on the ballot.

This is why I need your help.  You really do have the power to change politics--you just have to choose to use it!  Again, I don't want your money because accepting any would be politics as usual and I would love to turn political fundraising on its head.  All I ask is that you review my "Campaign Platform" below and if you agree with any of it please share this website with others, and if anyone asks who you plan to vote for, please mention my name whether you have made up your mind or not.  Again, I realize I am right now an extreme long shot, but most politicians started out the same way.  At a minimum, my hope is that if some unfunded "independent nobody" starts to get some attention because of the worthiness of his specific policy proposals and becomes more than a blip in national polling, then maybe this will send a big message to the Democrats and Republicans that they are miserably failing us, and all of their campaign funds (a total of $14.4 billion spent in the 2020 elections and 15.9 billion in the 2024 elections!) are being wasted on polarizing nonsense.   I think we could all agree these funds would do more good being donated to charity.  So, if my Campaign Platform so inspires you where you just feel compelled to make a financial contribution, I ask that you make it to one of your or my favorite charities so you will be certain it will actually do something positive for our country (please see my "How You Can Help" section).

But make no mistake.  I have spent my entire 39-year career in the Intelligence Community including 2 years as a Congressional staffer and nearly 20 years at the Pentagon spending millions and overseeing the spending of billions of dollars of your money.  I know how Government works and doesn't work.  I am running a campaign that I believe can meet with success if you want it to and am fully prepared for and capable of being a national leader.  I hope that once you get to know me, you will agree.  Our country is in so desperate need of an honest, competent, and practical voice they can trust!

MY CAMPAIGN PLATFORM

Real solutions to real problems

Below you will see a number of "Hot Topics" which are getting (or should be getting) a lot of attention these days.  For each topic I give a quick summary of my thoughts with the option to read more about the facts, statistics, my philosophy, proposals, and/or solutions.  I would like to think of myself as one in the endless pursuit of the truth so I welcome any corrections to errors of fact.

News Media Reform

The biggest complaint I hear these days is that there are no longer any reliable sources of factual news.  I find it such a shame that we are the most connected society in history—and the least informed!  I have several proposals to address this.

Tax Reform

Our tax code is incomprehensible.  Even learned scholars have disagreements on how to interpret it.  My philosophy is, "The average person pays taxes, so the average person should be able to fill out a tax form."  I honestly believe we need to start from scratch with a new tax code, but I also realize this is quite possibly impossible, but this at least gives you insight into my thinking.  Here are a few of my pet peeves.

Reuniting America

The time has come to unite against our polarizing political leaders and their media mouthpieces who are dividing us.  The time has also come to return to the notion of America as "The Great Melting Pot," where people of diverse backgrounds come together to enrich America with their different cultures but at the same time make the sacrifices necessary to assimilate into our American culture.

Stock Market and Banking Reform

I have a plan to turn what I believe to be the world's largest casino that incentivizes corruption and market manipulation into one of the most boring, stable, and reliable investment platforms. I also believe that credit card interest rates are out of control and perpetuate financial insecurity.

Federal Budget Reform

Our country is broke and we cannot continue to spend money on things we can't afford and should not be funding.  Also, why do we let Congress year after year get away with missing its September 30 deadline for passing its annual appropriations (i.e. spending) bills??  What example are we setting for our children when we require them to submit their homework on time but Congress doesn't have to?!

Climate Change

Whenever I hear someone speak or write of "Climate Change," my first instinct is to cringe and hold onto my wallet tightly.  Although I don't dispute the Earth is experiencing rising temperatures, I find it quite arrogant of us to believe that we are solely responsible for causing it and it is up to us to reverse it—assuming we even can!  If you want my attention, let's talk about pollution.

War in Ukraine

We must do everything now (and should have been doing everything all along) to bring about a total and complete Ukrainian victory—our very own democracy depends upon it!

Income Equality

I totally reject the concept of "income equality" (not to be confused with "equal pay for equal work" which I wholeheartedly support).  "Income equality" is nothing more than a euphemism for socialism, or worse, communism.  Our country would have never become a superpower—a technology and economic leader—if we adhered to this concept.  The only way a society can truly achieve "income equality" is by making everyone poor (except, of course, the elite power brokers)!

Foreign Policy

I believe that as long as there are dictatorships in the world, there can never be peace.  We must come to terms with this and embark on a course of action to extricate our economies from and isolate those countries run by oppressive dictators – especially the homicidal, megalomaniacal, and hegemonic ones—even if it means significant short term consequences to us.

Abortion

I am pro life but also realize that a woman's decision to have an abortion can be very complex and often for reasons she feels are beyond her control.  My goal would be first and foremost to address those reasons but the way to do so requires compassion and conversation which I can't accomplish on a website.  So if you want to hear my thoughts, please invite me to speak to your group or view my YouTube video on Addressing Abortion.  You can also read my July 3, 2024 letter to The Washington  Post on abortion in my Campaign Update.

Immigration

I believe that we and the rest of the free world have been wholly negligent in addressing the true causes of population flight.  While it may take courage and be laudable to welcome massive amounts of strangers to one's country, I believe the real courage and real hard work lies in addressing the root causes of massive migrations—oppressive, incompetent, or nonexistent governments.  I believe that most refugees would rather stay in their own country if their safety could be guaranteed—that was certainly the case with the Syrians and Venezuelans, and I believe is the case with most migrants coming from Central America from places like Nicaragua.

Legalized Marijuana/Cannabis

Are you kidding me??  What benefit is derived from having a stoned society??  Have we lost our minds??  I guess we have – to marijuana.  Might explain why so many are willing to buy into the most ridiculous of conspiracy theories...

LGBTQIA2S+ Issues

I honestly don't even know what all of these letters stand for.  But clearly both homosexual and heterosexual perverse behavior is rampant in our society and threatening both our psychological and physical well being.  I believe this is especially true for Hollywood where almost every new TV series now appears to be required to graphically show and promote same sex intimacy as well as heterosexual recreational “hookups.”  So more conversation is definitely needed.  If you want to hear my thoughts, please invite me to your group to discuss.

Voter ID Requirement

Why is asking for ID to vote considered discrimination?  So does that mean that airport security agents, alcohol merchants, bar owners, hotel operators, rental car agents, healthcare providers, and many others are all regularly practicing discrimination by requiring proper identification before providing a product or service?  If there does exist a class of society that is legally eligible to vote but lacks the means to obtain proper ID, doesn't it make more sense to facilitate their getting an ID than to eliminate the common sense requirement for ID to vote?  Any efforts to the contrary only serve to feed the rampant accusations of voter fraud, further polarizing our country.

Mass Shootings

I am at a loss as to why people are so surprised we have so many mass shootings these days.  Let me offer what I think is fueling these tragedies.

And, no, guns are not the cause—only the facilitator.

Reparations

The payment of reparations to the black community to atone for the sins of slavery (abolished over 150 years ago) is extremely counterproductive and will only increase already strained racial relations, further polarizing our country.  I would hope that a good portion of the black population agrees with this, but if they don't, then it is clear to me that we have much more serious racial issues on our hands that no amount of reparations would ever solve.  What we really need in order to get past a most ugly chapter in our nation's history is more use of the "F" word that seems to be so obscenely absent in our conversations – FORGIVENESS!

Healthcare Reform

I believe Obamacare has created just as many problems as it solved.  We still have a large portion of the population that is uninsured, and those who are can't afford the sky high deductibles so think twice about seeking medical attention—assuming they can even get a timely appointment with the doctor that Obama promised they could keep but now no longer have.

Gender Identification

A person's gender, just like their race and species, is determined by nature and not by choice.  That is an unassailable truth and is what we must teach our children.

However, if one believes they are not comfortable in the body they were born in, that is a whole different issue that needs to be addressed with love, compassion, and psychological help, not patronage.  I also believe there are studies that show that surgery is rarely the answer and often only treats a symptom of gender confusion, and not the underlying causes.

Education Reform

I do not have any children of my own so my impressions of our current education system is mostly based on "news" reports, parents and teachers I know, and my own young relatives.  It is clear to me that some potentially radical changes are needed but I obviously will plan to engage Congress and the American people on this topic.  But in the meantime, I do have a few thoughts to share.
